Saturday: Arriving at the City of Laval
We stayed at the city of Laval, as it was a great middle ground to visit Mont Saint- Michel and the Étretat Cliffs. Laval is a typical french city filled with french architecture, unlimited cafés and bars. Laval was the perfect place.
Sunday: On the way to Mont St. Michel & Étretat Cliffs
With an evening spent at Laval, the next day had breakfast and set towards Mont St. Michel. If you are a wings lover, then I highly recommend stopping at Buffalo Wings. This is a personal favourite, with great taste and reasonable prices, this is the perfect way to fill yourself and enjoy some great wings.
Saint Mont- Michel

Mont St.Michel is an island in Normandy, France. It is a small village, located in the northwestern coast at the mouth of Couesnon River. This is one of France’s most famous landmarks. As of 2015, only about 33 people live in the island, which mostly include nuns and monks. Most parts of the village is free, although going up to the museum and the charge has a charge of EUR 10.
Inside the island you can walk and get to several worth seeing spots. This experience doesn’t require a guide as it is like discovering the small corners of a city. There are several small restaurants and souvenir shops that you can find inside the village.

Transport to the Island, Mont St. Michel
As Mont St Michel is an island, whether you get there by bus or car, you need to either take a 40 minute walk to the island, get on a horse carriage or you can take advantage of the free shuttle buses to the island. On the way to the island, there are several bus stops, which one might want to stop at to get some food and some great photography shots.
Photography Tips : Look at google photos
If you are into photography, then you must look into the kind of shots you would like to take. Walking is the better option to experience the view that the place has to offer. Moreover, taking the shuttle is also great as you can take shots along the way to or way from the island as you can get amazing photography shots from every angle.
Water or Sand?
Personally, I missed taking the reflection shot on the water and I consider that as a loss. As this was the only weekend possible for us to make this journey, we weren’t able to get the high tide. Despite of the wish to get a reflection shot, the image of the island surrounded by dunes of sand maintained its intrigue.
Étretat Cliffs

If you don’t mind driving, definitely go visit the Étretat Cliffs. The 3 hour journey from the island to the Cliffs is definitely worth it. Keep in mind the road tool is high in these areas.
The location around the Cliffs, is accompanied by beach, several restaurants and entrance to cliffs is free. One you get on top of the cliff, they land get flatter, but the walking path continues further. Spending a few hours at this location is enough to soak in the breath-taking views. The pictures are enough to say what the place has to offer.
Final Thoughts
With several bank holidays set in the calendar or even just weekends, this disneyland lookalike landmark is definitely a trip everyone should make. The commute is fairly easy and the views of the Mont St. Michel and the Étretat Cliffs are even more magnificent in real life.
