BLUES EXPRESS is a free, open air festival held every July in Differdange, Luxembourg.

This was my first time deciding to go to this small festival held in the city of Differdange, Luxembourg. This was the 16th edition of the festival and is held mid July every year. This year it was held on the 13th of July, 2019.
4 Things to keep in mind before going:
- The ambiance of the audience and the music together creates a world of its own.
- The transport is almost free (read below to identify your journey)
- Go to the The Paul Wrath Hall and view the art exhibition.
- You can also take the steam engine train from Petange to Fond-de-Gras.
It hosts local and international music from places such as France, Germany, Belgium, United Kingdom and the United States of America. It starts at around 6pm and goes on until 2am. Blues is a genre of music I don’t indulge with on a daily basis, but after this I will definitely try and dive into it. You can find the lineup online if you are interested in going any year.
Music from the Griot Blues Band from USA blue our minds.

Additionally, the location is remarkable on its own, being a historical site in an open, natural environment. The event is held at Minett Park, which is a landmark park in Luxembourg. In this park you can enjoy several activities such as:
Minett Park
- Nature and archeology
- The village of Lasauvage
- Enjoy the vintage looking Fond de Gras station ( The Paul Wrath Hall holds exhibitions)
- Take a 45 minutes rail-bikes ride which are 10€ per rail-bike.
Within the whole area there are 4-5 different stations of music, with each station playing different kinds of music. The ambiance of the whole event is super

Transport is Free! ( depending on where you are coming from)
Here you see how you can get there. There are about 8 different lines.
DRIVE: Based on the instructions we saw, you can drive to certain places in Differdange and then from the area there are free buses that can be taken to the festival ground. These buses are super frequent, when you think that you have just missed a bus, you can just turn and another one will be around the corner.
You can also park your cars for free at this underground parking at Auchan Opkorn
TRAIN: You can also take the train. During this day Train 1900 (Petange – Fond-de-Gras – Petange) is free, as is the access to concerts.
Address of the Event: Lasauvage & Fond-de-Gras L-4698 Differdange

Final Thoughts
If you like Blues music, then you should definitely go to this event and if you don’t like Blues music, then you should definitely go to this event. This event gave me, my new found love for the blend of the Griot and Blues. The transport is fairly free, the organisation of the event is super and the location is cherry on top of all that cake.
